- Receptgeneesmiddelen staan onder strenge controle; de regels voor voedingssupplementen zijn minder streng.
- Voedingssupplementen met daarin verwerkt yohimbine zijn in veel landen verboden (zoals in Nederland), maar o.a. in de VS zijn voedingssupplementen met yohimbine erin verkrijgbaar als middelen die de libido verhogen, afslankmiddelen en middelen ten behoeve van bodybuilders.
- Het gehalte yohimbine kan sterk variëren, maar het is het beste dit soort preparaten te vermijden, zeker als je hartpatiënt bent of lijdt aan depressies, waarvoor je medicijnen krijgt voorgeschreven.
